Pancakes vs. Waffles

Group-think bracket debate

👥 3–20 players10–25 min

Objective

A rapid “would you rather” bracket. The group is given pairs of options (Pancakes vs. Waffles, Beach vs. Mountains…) and must reach consensus on which to keep, eliminating one each round until a single champion survives. The fun is in the debate, not a personal score.

How to play

  1. The host sets up the item list and opens the first matchup.
  2. Players discuss and vote on which option advances; the loser is eliminated.
  3. The winner moves to the next round against the next contender.
  4. Continue until one item is crowned champion — then argue about whether the group got it right.

Strategy

  • Argue use-cases, not absolutes — “waffles hold syrup better” beats “waffles are just better”.
  • Form temporary alliances to carry an underdog through an early round.
  • Seed the strongest opinions early so the final feels earned.

Tips

  • Best with a facilitator who keeps each debate to ~60 seconds.
  • Mix light topics with a couple of spicy ones to raise the stakes.
  • There are no wrong answers — lean into playful disagreement.
